Xbox One Dashboard Redesigned: Solves User Issue, Performs Faster

Microsoft has redesigned the dashboard of the Xbox One by simply adding an Xbox button that will allow the guide to slide into view, for faster navigation. This simple change will make the console's dashboard navigation faster, solving a big issue.

According to a report from Game Spot, Xbox's director of program management Mike Ybarra showcased the first look of the new dashboard via a streaming session. Ybarra showed that the new guide slides into view from the left through a simple push of a button.

The new guide allows users to record video clips or save screenshots quickly. They can also easily navigate to the home screen, the Xbox Store, and the My Games & App section through the newly redesigned dashboard, which improves users' ability to multitask.

"Through one press of the Xbox button on your controller, you'll be able to pull up the newly enhanced Guide as an overlay on the left side of your screen no matter what you're doing," Ybarra explained. "You'll be able to start recording your GameDVR clips, adjust your recording length, and access your captures directly in the Guide."

The redesigned dashboard solves the big issue of Xbox One's old guide, according to Tom Warren of The Verge. When used, the old guide navigates back home, which causes the console's system to slow down and lag, or refreshes randomly.

But with the new guide now accessible via a single button without the need to go back to the home of the dashboard, Warren said the dashboard of the console would speed up significantly. Warren adds that the quicker to use dashboard makes the Xbox One guide more like the Xbox 360 guide, which is generally easier to use.

Ybarra didn't mention, though, when the new redesigned dashboard will launch. So fans will just have to wait for updates. While waiting for the update, fans can first enjoy Xbox's Gold program for the month of January, which offers several games for free. Check out also the top 10 Xbox One games in the video below.
