Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of "Final Fantasy" and current CEO of game design company Mistwalker, has been quiet about the details of his plans for 2017. But several reports have been surfacing regarding his plans next year, including the console version of "Terra Battle."
During 4gamer's traditional year-end mass interview with famous people of the game industry, Sakaguchi said that "new work is expected to be announced" in 2017. However, he didn't mention any more details as to what that new work is.
There have been a lot of reports coming out as to what Sakaguchi is working on and what he will be announcing in 2017. One of those is the console version of his hit mobile JRPG "Terra Battle."
DualShockers reported that Sakaguchi has been working on bringing his hit mobile game to gaming consoles. "Terra Battle" is a hit mobile role-playing game that Mistwalker launched in October 2014 for iOS and Android. The development of the game for consoles has been achieving progress but it's far from being completed as Sakaguchi says the road has been "steep."
Aside from the "Terra Battle's" console version, another possible game that Sakaguchi could be working on is the game they are co-developing with Silicon Studio. The partnership was announced in a press release last February that Silicon Studio sent out.
The press release notes that the collaboration aims to provide fans with the best gaming experience by combining Mistwalker's outstanding imagination with Silicon Studio's technical capabilities and long-term management. The press release came with an image of a character wielding a large sword and covered with some sort of armor. The character has a dragon-like skeleton creature beside him and a large dragon-like creature in the background.
DualShockers is not sure if the development of a console version of "Terra Battle" is the same as the game that Mistwalker announced its partnership with Silicon Studio. Fans will just have to wait in 2017 for more details. Check out the trailer of the "Terra Battle" game below.
In other news, Microsoft is now offering Sakaguchi's other popular game, "Lost Odyssey," as a free download on Xbox Live this month. The game joins Sakaguchi's other hit game "Blue Dragon" on Xbox One.
