"Double Dragon" will be continuing its story on PlayStation 4 and PC on January 2017 with its fourth installment. The latest game, though, adopted the gameplay of the original "Double Dragon," which would please some fans.
According to a YouTube trailer from Arc System Works, "Double Dragon IV" will be coming to PlayStation 4 and PC, via Steam, on January 30, 2017. The description of the video says that the story of the game will pick up right after the elimination of the Black Warriors in "Double Dragon II."
The trailer starts off with a montage of the original "Double Dragon," which was first played on the original NES console. After 1:08 mark of the trailer, footage of the new game is already being shown, and there wasn't much difference from the original gameplay, save for some improvements in color.
Even the background of artwork of "Double Dragon IV" stayed true to the original game in the NES classic. So fans who are expecting a remake with better graphics and artworks will be disappointed.
But that doesn't mean it won't excite fans. GameSpot said that the developer's strategy of staying true to the original game's gameplay and graphics will surely please fans of the original game.
This is true, especially for people who are still excited and happy with the nostalgia that the Nintendo NES Classic Edition has bought them. The NES Classic Edition, which Nintendo is working hard to keep up with demand, also includes the "Double Dragon II" in its selection of games.
And with a relatively cheap price, the game sells for 800 yen (roughly $8), fans won't hesitate to buy the game even if it offers outdated gameplay and graphics. "Double Dragon IV" did offer something new, as fans now have the option of a two-player duel, a Japanese mode, and a surprise. To view the trailer of the game, watch the video below.
