Disney is on the roll in 2016 releasing different blockbuster movies. The acclaimed company has no plans on slowing down.
It is reported that they break records by being the first movie studio to earn more than $7 billion in a year. It managed to overthrow Universal Studios that brought $6.89 billion in 2015.
Last year, Disney ruled the silver screens with top notch movies like "Captain America: Civil War", "Finding Dory," "Zootopia" and "Jungle Book." The Verge reported that every Disney division (Marvel, Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studious) released a movie.
Now, Disney has in store more groundbreaking movies this 2017. This year, Pixar will release "Cars" that has a very shocking trailer.
They will also release a new Disney film titled "Coco" and the much-awaited live action adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast." "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will also be released this year.
Speaking of 2016 Disney hit movies, who could forget about "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story"? That continues to remain in the top spot in the box office and has now earned $439 million, making it the 2nd highest grossing movie of last year.
The Huffington Post reported that Disney was able to beat Warner Bros., that released "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice," "Suicide Squad" and "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them." The site reported that in 2016 only four original movies ("Central Intelligence," "Sully," "Bad Moms" and "Arrival") were included in the 2016's 30 highest grossing films.
However, before the year ended, original movies like "Fences" and "La La Land" were able to be included in the 2016 highest grossing films. The site reported that Denzel Washington's new movie was able to gather 10.1 million, while, Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling's new film was able to get $9.5 million.
