iMac 2017 Latest News: Upcoming Device Will Have AMD GPU Chips; VR Integration Not Possible

The upcoming iMac 2017 will possibly get a launch at Apple Spring Event in April. Here is what we know so far about Apple's upcoming device.

The iMac 2017 is another Apple product that most consumers are eagerly anticipating this year. At present, Apple has been silent on what to expect with the product. The revelation about the upcoming product is most likely saved for a special event. One traditional customary occasion coming up is the Apple Spring Event happening in April where most of the company upcoming products are launched.

The anticipation for the iMac 2017 is building up. Mobipicker claims that the next iMac model will possibly have an Intel Core i7-7700 Kaby Lake chip clocked at 4.2 GHz and an AMD Polaris 10 chip. The possible integration of Intel Kaby Lake SoCs is good news. However, the new AMD GPU chips spark more interest given the current rave on virtual reality.

The recently concluded Mobile World Congress 2017 has highlighted the VR technology where it got a fair share of attention. The change in iMac 2017 graphics has suggested the possible integration of VR technology on the iMac 2017. The integration may not be possibly happening for now. Given the interesting specs, Oculus co-founder Nate Mitchell explains that support for the iMac 2017 is not included in their roadmap for at least the next six months, according to a report from Tech Crunch.

It can be recalled that the said company previously worked on the VR integration. The Oculus Rift conducted experiments on the Mac before but the connection just did not pan out. The first issue that was discovered during the experiment was the devices' compatibility. The HTC Vive VR headsets also encountered this same issue. At present, only PCs are compatible with the HTC Vive as mentioned vas claimed by its official website.

With the Virtual Reality gaining steam both for commercial and gaming use, probably it is high time for the Cupertino tech giant to solve the compatibility issues. The VR market is still unexplored and it is a good edge for Apple if they explored its potentials. Until then, we will just have to wait for more information that we can get for the upcoming iMac 2017. We will keep you posted as soon as information is available.
