Fans of "Tales From The Crypt" will have to wait longer before they can see their favourite storyteller, the Crypt Keeper, share some horror stories to them, as the series is facing delays due to rights issues. This puts the premiere date in uncertain territory.
According to a previous report from Laura Hurley Cinemablend, TNT came out with a statement about the delay of the reboot. The cable channel said that they are having a problem in securing the underlying rights of the series, as it tends to be "complicated."
"TNT and others have been pursuing a solution for more than a year, with significant progress being made," the statement said. "We look forward to the potential for further active development of this valuable franchise once the clearance process is fully resolved."
TNT's statement put to rumors that "Tales From The Crypt" is already dead, due to budget issues. But this doesn't mean that fans can expect to see the series reboot anytime soon, according to Kristen Howard of Den of Geek.
She said that the issue in getting the rights to the show has likely pushed back the show's target date for airing. Kevin Reilly, TNT's president, said in August that they're targeting to premiere the show in late 2017. But with this issue being complicated, Howard said that the target premiere date is looking less likely.
Hurley said that "Tales From The Crypt" was supposed to be part of TNT's new horror block. The block would include new shows "Time of Death," an anthology series with hour-long episodes, and "Creatures," which is about a pair of friends attempting to reach out to an Internet boogeyman, but with bloody consequences.
