Nintendo Switch Sales News: Console Sold More Than 500K Units In Four Weeks, Stock Available To Amazon Prime Members

The latest sales news for the Nintendo Switch shows the console was able to sell more than 500,000 units in Japan in just four weeks, and this is despite the stock shortage. And for people who are still looking for the console, Amazon is making it available to Prime Members.

According to a report from The Guardian, Amazon has started selling exclusively its limited stocks of the console to the members of its Prime subscription service. This is not something new from Amazon, as it is actually a continuing trend that started in early 2016.

The report said that the retail giant started making certain games and movies available only to its Prime members and the company's explanation was that this is part of the many benefits of being a Prime member. This trend has affected games like "Grand Theft Auto V" and movies like the "Birdman."

Though this is good news for Amazon Prime members who are still looking for ways to get their hands on the Nintendo Switch, it's frustrating for everybody else. Nintendo's latest console has been consistently sold out in almost every retail store since it launched on March 3.

The chances of purchasing one are very low, considering that every time stores restock supplies, they get sold out within hours. Though that's bad news for the fans, it's actually been nothing but good news for Nintendo.

Express reports that Nintendo managed to sell 519, 504 Switch units from March 3 to March 26 and that's just in Japan. Furthermore, the Switch's performance outpaced the PlayStation 4, managing to sell only 439,810 in four weeks when it launched in 2014.

It actually took Sony seven weeks to reach 500,000 sales, but they are currently leading the current generation of consoles. The Nintendo Switch still has a long way to go, but if it keeps its current pace, it won't be long before it beats the PlayStation 4. Check out the review for the Nintendo Switch in the video below.
