Ronda Rousey's Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) career is currently hanging in the balance after suffering a devastating loss to Amanda Nunes in December's UFC 207. Despite that, the athlete does not seem to be dropping her celebrity status anytime soon after she has reportedly been booked for a new acting gig in Hollywood for NBC's "Blindspot".
It may still take a little bit of time before fans of Rousey see her back in the caged octagon. That is if she still decides to come back to the combat sport after suffering two consecutive devastating losses. But the 30-year-old will soon be back on television with a new role as a prison inmate in the drama series "Blindspot."
According to a tip from website Bloody Elbow, Rousey will be playing a guest character named Devon Penberthy, "a female prison inmate who grew up in a working class family from the White Mountains of New Hampshire." The character is said to be serving time in the penitentiary after being busted of "transporting weapons across state lines," and her story will be tackled in one of the upcoming episodes of "Blind Spot." Much like Rousey, Penberthy is described as "tough, athletic woman who knows how to fight and handle a weapon."
Rousey is not necessarily new in the world of acting before booking the guest role in "Blindspot." Since coming to mainstream media prominence for her dominating performances in the UFC, movie producers have quickly turned to her for roles that fit her profile. Some of her more prominent acting gigs over the years include roles in 2015's "The Fast and the Furious 7", 2014's "The Expendables 3" and an upcoming titular on one in the contemporary remake of "Road House."
No word yet on the possibility of her coming back to fight again inside the UFC octagon. Rousey herself said even before her match with Nunes last year that it is going to be one of her last professional fights.
