Hugh Jackman, who is best known for playing X-Men character Wolverine, doesn't have a problem if someone else would soon play the character. It's likely, though, that Fox would take its time in trying to find a replacement for Jackman to play the iconic superhero.
In a feature article from The New York Times, Jackman said that he envisions "Logan" as his last outing as Wolverine. Though he adds that he won't know how he would feel in three years, but for now he feels the latest movie that involves the iconic character would be his last.
The article adds that Jackman was not supposed to return to the franchise, following his role in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and a short cameo in "X-Men: Apocalypse." But when "Chappie" director Neill Blomkamp asked him what one last film about Wolverine he would do, Jackman thought about it.
"I'd had a few wines," Jackman recalled. "I said, 'I think I've only got one more film if I do it.'
Jackman recorded a voice memo, which laid out the framework for the movie "Logan." The article adds that Jackman said it would only be a matter of time before another actor would be called to play Wolverine and he is "at peace with that."
"The character will go on," he said. "Someone else will play it, for sure." But it will likely be a while before people get to see Wolverine being played by another actor.
Screen Rant reports that Fox will take its time in bringing the superhero back to the big screen with another actor. The studio is actually focusing on different aspects of the franchise, aside from Wolverine.
The report adds that there's the "Deadpool 2" movie, as well as the "New Mutants" film. Fox is also in the process of developing another "X-Men" movie, so they're too busy for a new Wolverine movie that will feature a different actor.
The report said it was probably the best route to take, considering that Jackman's Wolverine has been an important part in shaping the cinematic universe of the X-Men franchise. Check out the trailer of "Logan," the last movie that Jackman will play Wolverine.
