Fans of the hit anime series "Yuri!!! On Ice" has been waiting for any information about the release date of season 2. Speculations are pointing to an October 2017 release, but no confirmation yet has come from the studio or even the creator of the anime.
According to a report from Petar Mitrovic of OppTrends, speculations about the sequel series has been divided, with some people speculating an October 2017 release, similar to the release of season 1. Others, on the other hand, are speculating a much later release date.
Mitrovic did say that the hit anime series is deserving of a season 2, considering the many awards it has received and how warmly the fans accepted the series. But the lack of official confirmation from the studio that season 2 will indeed happen has been concerning.
Crunchyroll's Anime Awards has given the hit anime series several awards, including Best Animation, Most Heartwarming Scene, Best Opening, and Best Ending. The main protagonist, Yuri Katsuki, also won the Best Boy award, as well as the Best Couple, with him and Victor Nikiforov.
Last December, the creator of "Yuri!!! On Ice" Mitsurou Kubo said that she wants the hit anime series to have a season 2 and she's willing to work hard for it. Unfortunately, there hasn't been an official confirmation from her as well that season 2 will indeed happen.
Mitrovic said that Kubo's words should probably mean that season 2 of the anime series should already be in the works. But without an official confirmation from MAPPA studios, it's hard to assume that it's already a given. He also said that the "Yuri!!! On Ice" Season 2 October release date is just an "optimistic thinking" of the series' fans.
For now, Mitrovic said that for now fans and everyone else can only speculate and hope that season 2 of "Yuri!!! On Ice" is indeed in the works already. He also hopes that if season 2 will happen, it would be released before 2017 ends. Check out the ending scene of "Yuri!!! On Ice" Season 1 in the video below.
