‘Overwatch’ News: Celebrates Chinese New Year As Its New Event

Chinese New Year is just around the corner and Blizzard seemed to be capitalizing on the event. A tweet from the official account of "Overwatch" confirmed that the game's new seasonal event will be based on Chinese New Year. The event is labelled 'Year of the Rooster' featuring Mei with a red and gold Chinese themed skin.

The event will kick off next Tuesday, January 24, several days earlier than the actual Chinese New Year that will take place on January 28. Though Blizzard didn't provide much detail about the incoming event, the 11 second teaser satisfied the fans with the much-needed character skins Mei and D.Va as reported by Polygon. The teaser was captioned "Good luck and great fortune await!" with Mei holding several red envelopes.

Blizzard confirmed that the 'Year of the Rooster' event will be similar in scale with the previous events of the game like Halloween Terror and Winter Wonderland. The previous limited-time events include new character skins, sprays, voice lines, emote and other cosmetic items that will probably reprise in the new event. The event is expected to have its own version of the mini-game-modes like Junkenstein's Revenge and Mei's Snowball Offensive.

With "Overwatch" seemingly launching events every month, the fans are expecting that in the month of February, there will be a Valentine's event. However, the official page of the game made it out of the question by commenting "No Valentine's event" in their page.

According to Express, the developers of the game recently added new feature to the game via PTR update. Players can now see the health bars of other characters when they are engaged in the spectator mode. This will make the game more thrilling in a co-op battle which gives viewers a better understanding of the situation and what team is winning.

This feature will definitely boost the game's momentum in becoming more popular as an eSport s title. The update also includes a more streamlined process of purchasing Loot boxes and fixes for game-breaking bugs.
