There was a report last Tuesday that said Warner Bros. is looking to come out with its own "Attack on Titan" movie with "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" producer David Heyman already on board. But a representative from publisher Kodansha said that the report was incorrect.
The report came from Deadline Hollywood and they said that Warner Bros. is in negotiations for the right to feature the hit manga series, which was already turned into an animated series and a live-action movie. The entertainment studio is planning to come up with their own version of the movie.
The report also said that if the negotiations push through, this will be another property for Warner Bros.'s in the anime world. The studio's latest anime property is Akira.
Anime News Network said that a public relations representative from Kodansha said Deadline's report is not correct. Kodansha is the publisher of Hajime Isayama's "Attack on Titan" manga.
"There are many works where negotiations are advancing for film adaptations," the representative said. "I cannot comment on what is in contract negotiations."
The Japanese film came in two parts, with the first part coming in August 2015 and it ended as the seventh-highest-grossing locally produced film. Anime News Network said that the film earned about $5 million or 600 million yen.
The second film, though, which came out on September 19, 2015, earned only 327, 915,700 yen or about $2.75 million. The movies were also released in North America on home video and in theatres by Funimation.
