It looks like HBO is not yet fully closing its doors to a possible spinoff of its hit series "Game of Thrones." Though the studio has a lot of potential spinoffs, the fans reaction to the conclusion of the series will likely determine if there will be one.
HBO Original Programming President Casey Bloys told Variety in an interview that they are exploring the possibility of having a spinoff. He said that "it's a big enough property that we would be foolish not to explore it."
He did say that they don't have a script yet and they're not even close to saying that they want to do something. But he did say they do have a lot of source material to look into for a possible spinoff.
Corey Hoffmeyer of Screen Rant said that HBO does have a lot of potential direction they can go for a spinoff, including a George R. R. Martin's prequel series "Tales of Dunk and Egg. The series took place 90 years before the events of "Game of Thrones."
Hoffmeyer also said that fans have also been asking for a young Ned Stark story during Robert's Rebellion. He did say that even if there are a lot of source material to use, the spinoff will likely depend on how fans would react to the ending of the HBO's hit original series.
He said if "Game of Thrones" concludes on a high note, a spinoff is more likely to take place. But for now, HBO is focused on season 7 and season 8, the finale season.
Check out the trailer for series' season 7 in the video below. In other news, it looks like one of the series' stars, Peter Dinklage, will be playing a major role in Marvel's "Avengers: Infinity War." It's likely he will be playing the villain MODOK.
