The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in talks with "Game of Thrones" star Peter Dinklage for a role in the "Avengers: Infinity War." There are possible characters Dinklage can play, but one report says the villain MODOK is a strong candidate.
Variety said sources told them that Marvel is in early talks with Dinklage for a major role in the third "Avengers" movie. Sources also said that Dinklage is expected to appear in both parts of movie's third installment.
The report said that Dinklage's schedule has allowed him to be available for Marvel's movie. But with the plot details of "Avengers: Infinity War" still vague, The "Game of Thrones" star's role is still unknown at this point.
Alex Leadbeater of Screen Rant said that there are a lot of possible characters that Dinklage could play, like Pip the Troll or Uatu The Watcher. He adds, though, that one likely character the actor will play is MODOK, an intelligent but murderous supervillain.
Leadbeater said that Dinklage ass MODOK is supported by the fact that screenwriter Christopher Markus when he was talking about the plans for "Captain America 2," wanted MODOK to appear as the villain. The screenwriter also said that Dinklage was the actor he wanted to play the villain.
"I love MODOK and I think you could make a terrifying movie with MODOK but nobody seems to be on my side at the momentum...I will win you over to Peter Dinklage as MODOK," Markus said in a 2011 interview with Screen Rant. Leadbeater said Markus is also one-half of the writing team for "Avengers" 3.
He adds that it's still hard to really know who Dinklage will be playing as there is still little information about the movie. Leadbeater said, though, that based on Markus' obsession with MODOK, it's a safe bet that the "Game of Thrones" star could play the villain.
In other news, some of the scenes for "Avengers: Infinity War" will be filmed in Scotland, which is not that far from Belfast, Ireland, where "Game of Thrones" is being filmed. Check out the epic scenes of Dinklage's Tyrion Lannister in the HBO hit series in the video below.
