Starbucks is one of the most famous coffee shops in he whole world. Wherever you go, you will probably see that green siren cups and signs. Known for offering a wide variety of flavored coffee and frappes, Starbucks surely has tons of ways to gain many customers. Starbucks is known to for asking each customer's name and writing them on the cups giving customers a more personalized experience. However, according to a Youtube video, something smells kind of fishy.
According to Daily Mail and Cosmopolitan, a Youtube video by Super Deluxe regarding Starbucks' "free publicity" left many Starbucks customers into a deep realization. As Starbucks is known to write customer's names on their cups, most customers find their names spelled by mistake. Usually, customers laugh about these misspelled names and share the "funny" experience into their social media accounts.
As said in the video: "Starbucks is misspelling your names on purpose", writing down misspelled and mistaken names of customers might probably be one of Starbucks marketing strategies. Since most customers find their misspelled and incorrect names funny, they post it online allowing more people to see and become aware of Starbucks, its logo and its products.
As social media influence increases, it is only fitting for any business to advertise their products where everyone can easily see it. The Super Deluxe crew tested out this incorrect naming hypothesis and went to several Starbucks coffee shop braches. The crew went to five Starbucks branches giving out the name "Molly" to be written in the cups. Out of the five branches they tested, three of them actually got Molly's name wrong by writing: Molli, Mali and Mommy. So, Super Deluxe's narrator said, "That's right, sheeple- you've been giving Starbucks free publicity for years!" As to the truth about this conspiracy, the Super Deluxe crew cannot conclude but again, the whole conspiracy actually makes sense.
