Starbucks bans rings - A new policy implemented by the Seattle-based company has got its employees fuming. Starbucks has banned its employees from wearing engagement rings or wedding bands that have precious stones. Why exactly the need for a bizarre policy?
In the latest weird news involving Starbucks bans rings, the management has banned its employees from wearing rings that have precious stones all for the safety of their customers. Such jewellery is reportedly a "food safety" concern as it could potentially drop into the drinks prepared and could choke customers.
"There are food safety rules we have to live by," states the dress code released, adding, "Here's the fine print - wearing a ring is okay if it's a plain band, no stones. Unfortunately, no watches, bracelets or wristbands are allowed. Simple necklaces can be worn under your clothes."
However, the new policy of Starbucks bans rings is allegedly only implemented on female employees. Thus, this has caused an outrage with female customers and female employees of Starbucks. Customers have gone to Twitter to reportedly boycott the brand over the crazy Starbucks bans rings report.
"really wanted a Starbucks but I RESISTED. proud n trying 2 get this ban on wedding/engagement rings lifted #boycottstarbucks @Starbucks," stated one Twitter user by the name of Lina Maureen.
While Starbucks banned rings, employees with tattoos and studs are now acceptable. The policy released reads: "We want customers to focus on you, not your body art. Tattoos are allowed, but not on your face or throat."
Other customers and employees may be enraged over Starbucks banning rings, one customer on Twitter pointed out that the brand, Wawa, has the same ruling on engagement rings.
"You guys do realize Wawa doesn't allow its employees to wear gemstone rings either right? #NotJustStarbucks #Starbucks," tweets the observer with regards to the Starbucks bans rings policy.
