WWE Rumors: Sting, CM Punk Could Join 40-Man Royal Rumble Slugfest

WWE Royal Rumble might be over two months away, but the excitement building up around one of the biggest PPV events in sports entertainment is already beyond comprehension.

Rignside News writer Aaron Grant indicated in his report about WWE's plan of reverting back to the 40-man field at the 2015 Royale Rumble. The announcement was made during Tuesday's WWE Smackdown taping at Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia, which will also serve as the host for the event on Jan. 25.

"WWE officially announced at tonight's SmackDown tapings in Philadelphia that the 2015 Royal Rumble pay-per-view will take place from the Wells Fargo Center from Philly. The Rumble will take place on January 25th. Tickets go on sale this Friday but apparently they were available to fans at tonight's tapings," as reported by Grant.

WWE's decision to make it a 40-man battle royale stemmed from their intention to give their young superstars from NXT opportunities to show their stuffs against other elite stars and secure for older players to make their comebacks.

"At a time where the roster is filled with rising stars and fresh talent who deserve a spot in the Rumble, I see no reason why it shouldn't feature 40 Superstars. It is too late for it to happen this year, but I would hope that this becomes the norm starting with next year's installment," according to WWE beat writer Graham Matthews of Bleacher Report.

Sting, CM Punk Sightings - A Possibility

By returning to a 40-man slugfest, WWE will have the leverage to add 10 more superstars that would create intrigue in the present storylines. There are speculations that some of these spots could be offered to superstars who have been away for awhile like Daniel Bryan and CM Punk or someone fans waiting to make a WWE debut like Steve Borden, aka Sting.

"Daniel Bryan could have received a clean bill of health by then, while more tantalizing prospects like Sting or CM Punk will inevitably be discussed," as reported by Joseph Zucker of WWE Bleacher Report.
