NBA Rumors: Ray Allen Signs With Cavaliers – Report

Veteran shooting guard Ray Allen has reportedly extended his professional basketball career to one more year after signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Glen Moore of FanSided reported on Tuesday.

"Earlier reports of Ray Allen signing with Cavaliers are true. Done deal," according to Moore, a longtime Cavaliers beat writer.

Allen's signing with the Cavaliers isn't surprisingly at all, given that the 10-time All-Star has been linked all-summer long to join former Miami Heat teammate LeBron James in Ohio.

Allen, who averaged 9.2 points on 44 percent shooting from the field and 37 percent clip from beyond the arc, would be a big boost for the Cavaliers because of his efficient outside stroke and championship pedigree.

Aside from the Cavaliers, there were multiple teams expressed their interest in getting his service, one of which is the San Antonio Spurs - the team the defeated the Miami Heat in five games and significantly ended the 'Big 3' era in South Beach last season.

Allen was previously hesitant to play another season mainly because of the heavy tool of a long grueling season to his ageing body, but the hunger to add another championship ring to the ones he won with the Boston Celtics in 2008 and Miami Heat in 2013 apparently prevailed.

With the re-tooled Cavs, the former Connecticut star is expected to play 10 to 15 minutes per game behind projected starting shooting guard Dion Waiters and provide the team some outside shooting off the bench.

His experience in playing under immense pressure would also be significant factor for the Cavs, who are consists mainly of players without playoff or championship experience.

James, who decided to re-join the Cavaliers after four seasons with the Heat, has been pursuing Allen since the day of his comeback announcement, and it seems he's successful again in adding another vital member of the team after getting Kevin Love from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

According to sources, Allen is scheduled to join the Cavaliers' training camp after the team's exhibition game with the Miami Heat in Brazil this week.
