Jeremy Lin’s Debut Impresses Steve Nash, Former MVP Believes J-Lin Will Have Big Year

Jeremy Lin is off to a great start with the Los Angeles Lakers after Asian-American standout played extremely well in a playmaking role in Monday's 98-95 exhibition game against the Denver Nuggets in San Diego.

The 26-year old Lin finished 10 assists in 27 minutes of playing time. Although he did not have a good shooting night as he scored one point on 0-foir-7 shooting, his performance in his purple-and-gold debut was enough to draw the attention of Lakers head coach Byron Scott and Steve Nash, who has no doubt the younger point guard will have a big season ahead.

"Byron Scott commended Lin post-game for his ability to orchestrate the offense and Steve Nash said he believes Lin has the ability to have a great year. Nash pointed to Lin's decision making ability, especially in pick and rolls and transition," via Lakers Nation.

Lin, who is playing for his fourth team in fifth year in the league, said that he's still picking for his spots on the floor. Nevertheless, he thinks he's more prepared for the upcoming year more than he was in previous seasons.

"I just want to figure out how I can bring my strengths and apply it best to this system. It's kind of like a chess match in learning and figuring it out. I think I'm more prepared for it just having gone through my time in Houston, and playing off the ball and learning different ways to try to be effective," Lin told reporters after his first game with the Lakers.

After a week of grueling training with the Lakers, Lin seems to start gaining the trust of his teammates, especially the established veterans like Nash and Kobe Bryant.

Playing in the final year of his three-year, $25 million deal he signed with the Rockets in 2012, Lin is looking to assume a big role this season, either as a backup point guard or starter.

On Thursday, the Lakers will play host to one of Lin's former teams, the Golden State Warriors at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
