Manny Pacquiao is jack of all trades. Apart from being the reigning WBO welterweight champ, a legislator and a TV & Movie personality, Pacquiao is also strutting his wares as a playing coach for expansion team Kia Sorento in the Philippine Basketball Association.
Last week, the 35-year old showcased to everybody his innate basketball skills in his team’s exhibition match against another expansion club Blackwater Elite. And boy, Pacman never failed to entertain the crowd.
In a series of posts by GMA sports writer Mark Zambrano, the former pound-for-pound king is seen pulling off some maneuvers from his bag of tricks, including a behind-the-back crossover against a taller defender (never mind the turnover!)
Pacquiao, who considered himself as a sniper more than a slasher, took his first field goal attempt from behind the parabola.
The boxer-turned-professional baller finished the game with one point in 10 minutes of playing time. He also turned the ball over twice in the match. But despite Pacman’s struggle to look like pro on the court, his presence nevertheless is huge draw even for a casual sports fan.
Pacquiao is currently preparing for his upcoming showdown with Christopher Algieri in their WBO welterweight clash at Venetian Macao in Macau, China on November 24.
This fight won’t be any other in his career, because it could very well determine if he will ever face Floyd Mayweather Jr. next year, so expect Pacquiao to go all-out against the undefeated American.
