‘AMERICAN IDOL’ 2014 CONTESTANTS [VIDEO] BACK TO THE ‘80S: WHO CAN BE BOTTOM 3 FROM THE TOP 8 SINGERS?

'American Idol' 2014 contestants went back in time to the '80s for their performances Wednesday. According to former 'American Idol' winner and now guest mentor David Cook, the '80s is probably the "best decade in music history" ever, and the 'American Idol' 2014 contestants gave it their all in their renditions in order to get America's votes.

A recap of the Top 8 'American Idol' 2014 contestants first showcases Jena Irene Asciutto of Farmington Hills opening the show with a piano version of Joan Jett's "I Love Rock 'n' Roll."

Malaya Watson of Southfield meanwhile sang Chaka Kahn's "Through the Fire."

Sam Woolf of Florida performend Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" classic.

Caleb Johnson held on to his faith in his talent singing Journey's "Faithfully".

The remaining 'American Idol' 2014 contestants performances were Dexter Roberts with The Georgia Satellites' "Keep Your Hands to Yourself",

Jessica Meuse's rendition of "Call Me" by The Blondie,

Alex Preston's version of The Police's "Every Breath You Take",

and Tom Petty's "Free Fallin' song as sung by C.J. Harris.

Unfortunately, despite giving it their all on '80s night, the Top 8 'American Idol' 2014 contestants will be facing eliminations on Thursday, April 10 at 9:00 p.m. on Fox. One 'American Idol' 2014 contestant will be eliminated since the 3 judges have already used their save last week on Sam Woolf.

After a string of amazing feats, the Bottom 3 of this week's 'American Idol' 2014 contestants may possibly be Sam Woolf, Dexter Roberts, and CJ Harris.

Sam Woolf's rendition of "Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper was good, but borders on the safe zone. There was little connection with the audience and possibly the show's viewers, and Keith Urban said that Sam needs to work on is the aspect of each song.

Dexter Roberts' "Keep Your Hands to Yourself" performance of the song by Georgia Satellites was enjoyable. An appropriate song for Roberts, it seems that he enjoyed it as well while playing the guitar.

CJ Harris from this year's 'American Idol' 2014 contestants took the stage performing Tom Petty's song "Free Falling". The arrangement was favourable, especially as his vocals became stronger as he got farther into the performance.

Though very talented performers from this year's 'American Idol' 2014 contestants, Sam Woolf, Dexter Roberts, and CJ Harris may well be too focused on the technical aspect of their performances. They tend to lack the connection to the audience also essential in a good presentation.

'American Idol' 2014 contestants fates, in the end, will still be in the hands of the American viewers.
