The latest episode of "Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation" signaled the start of the highly-anticipated Inter High Road Race. The three-day race will be held at the Utsunomiya, Tochihi Prefecture that is said to be a sprinter killer because of its long and steep slopes that are roughly twice as high as Hakone. Hours before the exhilarating race, the characters of the series set up the stage by showing the conflicts between the opposing teams.
The episode titled "The Second Inter High," kicked off with a short and informative explanation on the road that will be used by the cyclists. Later on, Sugimoto Terufumi was shown giving a speech to the non-participating members of the Sohoku Cycling Club and encouraging the other members to support the representing members to their best capacity. He even mentioned that they are the seventh member of the team and the other cannot ride without them.
According to Anime News Network, Sohoku was still seen as an underdog compared to the Hakogaku which boasts a long history of being the champions in Road Racing. It is portrayed vividly in the episode when Sohoku's bus parked on the venue to be overshadowed (literally and figuratively) by the enormous vehicle of Hakogaku. Teshima even claimed that by winning the first time, people will think it was a fluke so they have to win twice to be acknowledged.
As Sohoku went to their tent and prepare for the race, Kaburagi is seen to be nervous and his stomach is out of shape once again. Naruko, on the other hand, asked permission to Teshima that he will be out for a while to take some minor business which is clearly with Midousuji.
As expected, Naruko headed over to Kyoto Fushimi's tent to make a declaration of war to the creepy face of Midousuji to settle old scores as reported by Lost in Anime. It is very outstanding of the show runners to continuously effort in making the already creepy character more horrifying with every appearance. However, all the pressure and intimidating aura that Midousuji displays don't even flinch the flashiest man of Sohoku.
Meanwhile, Kaburagi had a confrontation with Hakogaku's sprinter Doubashi who is nicknamed Road Monster because of his fearsome ability as a cyclist. After their heated exchange, Doubashi managed to implant a doubt to Kaburagi in Onoda's cycling prowess which will hurt Kaburagi's view of Sohoku. Hopefully, this taunting will not affect the results of the upcoming first day of Inter High.
