Sohoku High School Cycling Club's Inter-High line up was filled up in the previous episodes of "Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation" and they have even tested to new-found team's power during the preliminaries. However, Teshima believes that the team is still lacking compared to the Hakogaku cyclists who boasts that each of their members is all aces. In order to have a fighting chance against the teams that will seek revenge in the upcoming Inter High, they will have to grow stronger in their training camp.
The episode was titled "1000 km Again" and we will see the hit sports anime back on the 5-km course of Cycling Sports Park. As per the annual tradition, all member will have to bike 1000 km within their four-day stay at the training camp. Completing the training camp will be a prerequisite for Inter-High participants and those who will not comply with the regimen will be removed from the line-up.
The news of the arduous tasked shocked Kaburagi and he even suspected his seniors of playing a prank on him. He was overwhelmed by the job and was further devastated by the handicap that Teshima put on him. According to Anime News Network, the team captain forced Kaburagi to finish the task without relying on his friend Danchiku. A sensor was attached to both of their bikes to ensure their distance from each other.
Aside from the new opening and ending song, the episode gave a proper introduction to Kimitaka Koga into the series. He is a third-year student with glasses who took charge of the club's bike maintenance prior to the events in "Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation" as reported by Lost in Anime. Apparently, he is a strong cyclist and is nicknamed Stamina Simpleton but he is injured some time ago so he has to take a break from cycling.
He is now participating the training camp to oust Teshima and claim captainship of the team. He believes that Teshima is the weakest link in the Inter-High line-up and he is planning to replace him in the lineup. "Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation" Episode 13 ended with a little showdown between the two with Koga emerging as the winner.
