‘Fargo’ Season 3 Spoilers: Showrunner Talks About 2008 Financial Crisis' Relevance To Plot

The long wait is almost finally over for "Fargo" fans. The crime drama anthology is set to return next week, and it will focus on the story of two brothers who are living very different lives.

Yahoo! TV has compiled photos for Season 3, and it shows brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy - both played by Ewan McGregor - and the other casts. Carrie Coon stars as Gloria Burgle, Jim Gaffigan is Donny Mashman, Michael Stuhlbarg is Sy Feltz, Mary Elizabeth Winstead is Nikki Swango and David Thewlis is cast as V.M. Vargas.

Series showrunner Noah Hawley said the show's plot focuses on what people do for money, TV Guide reported. In a world where money seems to be everything, the show attempts to educate that greed destroys our humanity. We all remember what happened back in 2008.

Seven years ago, the world was plunged into a financial crisis where economists say is the worst since the Great Depression of the 1930s. It was a time of misery and a lot of people didn't have enough food on their table. This was mainly caused by greedy financial institutions, and "Fargo" Season 3 is set just two years after that depression.

Hawley said that their first year was set in 2006, and then 2010 was the aftermath of everyone's struggle. He said that he thought it would be interesting if one of the show's characters is a real estate magnate. "What were those last two years like for him? What did he have to do to survive this financial collapse?" he added.

Emmit and Ray, just like a lot of brothers, have a huge sibling rivalry, and their twisted path begins with a petty theft, which leads to murder and then the mobsters were involved. Emmit got a loan from someone, and by 2010, just when he has recovered enough to pay the loan, he realized that what he owed was not a debt but an investment. "Fargo" Season 3 will premiere on April 19.
