'Scandal' 100th Episode Update: Kerry Washington Talks About Wedding Dress Scene; Cast Spill Some Of Show's Secrets

ABC's hit political thriller TV series "Scandal" has been around since 2012. Even after five years, the show still has a huge following, and the name Olivia Pope cannot be mistaken. It's not every day that a TV series gets the opportunity to air a 100th episode. But "Scandal" surely is an exception.

The show has indeed come very far, and creator Shonda Rhimes along with some of the show's major casts currently had an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. They talked about the show's success, and the biggest secrets of "Scandal."

One secret is the fact that Olivia Pope was originally envisioned as a white woman. However, when casting director Linda Lowy met Washington, she knew it was her. Also, then-ABC drama head and now president of ABC Entertainment, Channing Dungey, "felt strongly that Olivia will be black."

Another one is the show wanted to have an openly gay character, Cyrus Beene. Jeff Perry's wife lets out a yelp when she read about that part that said, "Olivia knocks on the door. James [Dan Bucatinsky] opens it and says, 'My husband doesn't work on Sundays.'" Bucatinsky said that the scene is the "most refreshing, modern, subversive way of letting an audience know that a character was gay."

Traveler's Today previously reported that the 100th episode will show Olivia in a wedding dress. A trailer released for the episode teases her looking every inch like a beautiful bride. But our question is, who is she about to marry? We know that the anticipated episode is an alt-reality of what could have happened if Olivia and her team did not rig the election.

Washington talked about that wedding gown scene. According to E! Online, she got something for herself as a remembrance of the big moment. "I did actually purchase the earrings from the wedding scene. Because I feel like it's our 100th episode, they were beautiful Tiffany's drop pearls and I just thought they would be special to have for the rest of my life to remember this milestone." The 100th episode of "Scandal" will air on April 13.
