Fans of the "The Voice" were divided after the two-part premiere was aired. The first part was aired on February 27 and the second one was aired on February 28, 2017. Half of the avid followers loved the focus on the lovers Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton. But there were those who felt otherwise.
According to Blasting News, this season's premiere recorded a drop of viewership of up to 2 million. This is surprising knowing that the show had a massive viewership for the last 10 seasons. The same source reported that fans took to social media to give their dissatisfaction. They informed that too much focus on the personal relationship between the two judges has overshadowed what the show is all about. Some fans admitted that they did not like the PDA between Shelton and Stefani that they switched channels.
Some say that everybody loves love stories but not on the show that is designed to discover and showcase talents. In fact, this is what the fans wanted to see all along. It remains to be seen if they will go back and give the show a second look. After all, it has just started.
The "Came Here To Forget" crooner and the ex-wife of Gavin Rossdale must have sensed that the ratings dropped. According to Celebrity Dirty Laundry, Shelton has decided to do his marriage proposal on the show. The idea came from fellow judge Alicia Keys and the ex-husband of Miranda Lambert seems to love the idea.
But the above source seems to imply that the judges were desperate to up the ratings and have to come up with a proposal to spice up the show. However, there is no assurance that the proposal will indeed do wonders for "The Voice."
Since fans were already reacting that the show is centered on the romance between Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, it might push the rating further down. Competing like the regular judges do might help the show. After all, the competition among the judges and the contestants makes the show exciting.
