It looks like "Orange Is The New Black" Season 5 will be intense as violence is likely to break out between the inmates and the correction officers (CO). Meanwhile, Daya (Dascha Polanco), Maritza (Diane Guerrero), and Flaca (Jacki Cruz) are all expected to have major roles this coming season.
According to a report from Stars Post, Maritza and Flaca's friendship will be featured more in season 5 and provide some lighthearted banter to the series. Cruz said that the reason why their characters are favorites was due to their real friendship that's shining on the TV screens.
Cruz said that Guerrero's character is the reason why Flaca has started to speak about what she believes in. "She's also political, and she's the reason why I was like "Wow! Her voice is making a difference!" Cruz said.
Polanco's character will also be getting some screen time, considering that "Orange Is The New Black" Season 4 ended with a cliffhanger involving her. She was last seen holding a gun and pointing it to CO Thomas Humphrey (Michael Torpey).
The report adds that Polanco even revealed that Daya will pull the trigger. If that trigger will indeed be pulled, it could actually add fire to the already heating up tension between the inmates and the COs.
iDigitalTimes reported that a riot is likely to break out in the Litchfield Penitentiary following the death of Poussey (Samira Wiley). A lot of pent-up frustrations have been building up inside the inmates as well, considering that COs like Desi Piscatella (Brad William Henke), Humphrey, and Charlie Coates (James McMenamin) have been abusing the inmates.
Piscatella's cruelty and sadism have made him the enemy of almost all female inmates in Licthfield while Coates raping Pennsatucky (Taryn Manning) also made him some enemies, especially earning the hatred of Boo (Lea DeLaria).
The report said Humphrey also abused his authority, making Maritza eat a baby mouse. His bet on the inmates fighting one another also led to the death of Poussey. If all of this would indeed happen, fans will be in for some intense episodes of "Orange Is The New Black" Season 5.
"Orange Is The New Black" Season 5 is scheduled to air on June 9, 2017. Check out Netflix's teaser announcement for season 5 of the series.
