The first promotional video for the movie was released which portrayed a new set of characters for the new film.

At the Anime Japan 2017, Kadokawa's booth showcased their special stage with the title, "No Radio No Life Game Kyoudai ga Radio wo surusou desu" (No Radio No Life Game, it looks like the siblings have a radio show). The main casts of the anime starred in the show including Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (voice of Sora), Ai Kayano (voice of Shiro) and Yoko Hikasa (voice of Stephanie Dola). The show also released the first 1 minute 40-second promotional video for the film.

According to Anime News Network, the video tells that the story of "No Game, No Life Zero" will be about a myth erased from the people's memories. It was an event that happened 6000 years ago where the world of Disboard is engulfed with unending war. Though the movie is starring with the same cast as with the anime series, they will be playing new characters except for the Flugel Jibril. Matsuoka will voice Riku, Kayano as Shuvi and Hikasa will take the role of Corone Dora.

The movie will be based on Volume 6 of the original light novel series written by Yuu Kamiya. The story will revolve around Riku and Shuvi and their struggle during the war as reported by Otaku Tale. In the light novel, Tet tells the story about Riku and Shuvi to Izuna when the werebeast gave the One True God some food. It is also believed that the movie will provide some explanation on how Tet rose to power and how the war ended.
