‘Blade' Cast: Falcon Actor Anthony Mackie Wants To Play Role, Grew Up Wanting To Be Wesley Snipes

It looks like actor Anthony Mackie wants to play a different character in Marvel aside from the hero Falcon, the one he's currently playing. Mackie said he would want to play the human vampire Blade, a role made famous previously by Wesley Snipes.

According to a report from ScreenGeek, Mackie said that if the "Blade" movie is ever brought back, he would be playing the human vampire in every movie. And the reason for that is because he idolizes Snipes.

"I pretty much want to grow up to be Wesley Snipes," the actor said. It's still pretty much a mystery on what Marvel is planning for the character, but Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige assured that they do have a plan.

Back in October, Feige said that they will be doing "something with Blade," who he describes as a great and fun character. He mentioned that there are great opportunities for the character to pop-up, whether it be the studio's movies or their TV shows, they will make the character appear.

Feige is thinking of something in the line of what they did with Ghost Rider when he appeared in "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." But for now, there's nothing imminent yet for the human vampire.

Mackie playing Blade would actually be great, except for the fact that he is already part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Sam Wilson, a.k.a. Falcon in four movies already. ScreenRant reports that there would actually be a benefit to letting Mackie play the character Blade.

The report said that although Snipes had reiterated that he is open to reprising his role as the human vampire, he will already turn fifty-five this year. Even if he is still in great shape, Mackie, who is only thirty-eight, presents the studio with more longevity with the character.

It's still possible to bring in Snipes to provide more recognition to the character. The report said that he could play the role of passing the torch to a younger Blade. Check out Snipes fight move compilation, while portraying the character in the "Blade" trilogy.
