‘One Piece’ Episode 780 Review: Marine Rookies Arc Now Airing!

After a short glimpse at the face of Kaido, "One Piece" opened up another filler arc that will revolve around an island that is currently occupied by the Navy. This has been a recurring event in the series where Oda and the show makers slowed down the story to prepare for the main arcs. This what makes the hit anime different from others because it will rather have a slow story progression rather than have a fast but low-quality story.

Episode 780 is titled "A Hungry Front - Luffy and the Marine Rookies!" where the Straw Hats is suffering from a food shortage. Thanks to Luffy, all of the ingredients and supply are now wasted because of his epic cooking skills. To add the almost unpredictable weather in the New World, the crew is in a dire situation.

According to Anime News Network, the only stopover that they can make in their travel from Zou to Whole Cake Island is a place occupied by the Navy. As stated by Pekoms, the island is a place where hotheads from various Navy units stay. Though perilous, they were left with no choice and the Straw Hats infiltrated the base and steal their food.

Nami, Luffy, Chopper and Carrots disguised themselves as Navy soldiers by stealing some uniforms from on-duty guards. Carrot and Luffy strayed away from the group since Carrot smelled the food coming from the cafeteria at the headquarters. However, their cover was blown and they will have a heated confrontation with the three rookie marines as reported by Games N Anime.

The three rookies are named Grount, Bonham, and Zappa who all shared some time together under former Admiral Aokiji. They recently got reunited when Grount asked for a transfer from Vice Admiral Garp. Among the three Zappa was the first one to notice the presence of the Straw Hats when he instantly recognized her the moment he sees her.

The Episode 780 of "One Piece" ended just after the true identity of Luffy was revealed so we can expect some fight and action scenes in the upcoming episode. The filler arc will take three to four episodes and by that time, we can expect a more thrilling story for the Whole Cake Island Arc.
