Nintendo Switch Sales Shows Great Promise: Units Out Of Stock Since Launch!

Nintendo Switch has been under the radars of many enthusiasts for quite a while and fans are curious if Switch will be able to fare well on the market. Switch was recently released on March 3 and stocks went flying from retail stores. Many gamers want to have a taste of this awesome device and the exclusive games that came with it. It is the seventh major home video game console released by Nintendo following the Wii series.

According to Anime News Network, the Switch has sold an estimated 330,637 units in Japan alone following its weekend release last March 3. The digit is promising to a point but it is still far from redeeming the low gains of Wii U. It is still early to declare that this is all for Switch as they are only in the early stages and the device can bounce back any moment.

As of March 6 in UK, Switch has already sold 80,000 units during its opening weekends which is actually twice the numbers recorded by Wii U consoles back in 2013. Fans surged major retail stores which resulted to sold out stocks and retailers even claimed that Nintendo is back as reported by Games Industry. Nintendo is hoping that the upcoming batch of exclusive games for Switch will keep the sales coming.

The "Legend of Zelda:Breath of the Wild" can be attributed for the auspicious digits of Nintendo Switch. Reports stated that the game has sold an estimated 193,060 physical copies including the Wii U games. The game is currently the second-best selling boxed game and the third biggest launch for a video game this year.

Meanwhile, Nintendo America President, Reggie Fils-Aime announced that Switch is now the fastest selling Nintendo system in America to date. He also added that most retailers are out of stock since launch. Fils-Aime has yet to provide an exact and official sales number in the market. The accurate number of units sold would still be impossible to tell.
