FOVE VR Steps Forward To Future With ‘Sword Art Online’ VR App Featuring Asuna

Mankind is advancing every second in the Virtual Reality field and developers are continuing their efforts in thinning the line between the reality and the virtual world. The events in the hit anime series, "Sword Art Online" happened in year 2022. Today we are a step closer to the future's technology as FOVE released a VR game where you can meet the anime's heroine Asuna.

FOVE is a VR developer based in California who developed a new VR headset that boasts its eye tracking technology. FOVE was also co-founded by Sony Interactive game producer Yuka Kojima. With an effort to promote their new product and the upcoming movie "Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale", they will release an exclusive app which features Asuna as reported by Anime News Network.

Asuna herself will be the main character of the app where you can interact with her through your eyes. The VR experience was called "Meet Asuna FOVE VR Home" where players can make Asuna smile or angry with just the action of the player's eyes. FOVE claims that the experience will be a natural conversation like never before on VR.

Asuna's voice actress, Haruka Tomatsu also made an appearance where she shows off the VR headset and how it works. She explained how the eye tracking system tracks and interprets the player's eye movements and gazes. She also joked that if players glanced at Asuna's chests the character will surely get angry.

This may be far from the actual "Sword Art" experience that avid fans expect but this is a small step closer to the actual game where you can actually fight and clear all the 100 levels of Aincrad. According to UploadVR, the app will be available next Tuesday, January 31st that will last until the end of July. Though the app will be available to Japan and South Korea, FOVE is not closing the possibility of a western release.
