Dire wolves played huge roles on HBO's hit TV series "Game of Thrones". Through the years they served as the symbol of the Stark children and their house and even protecting them when they're in danger. Fans have grown to love these canine hunters which are evident from their reactions when the show portrayed the wolves getting killed throughout the various events of the series.
It can be recalled that during the first season of the series, the Stark children found 6 wolf puppies in the wild with each of them having their own wolf companion. During the course of the six seasons, the wolves are killed one by one starting off with Sansa's wolf, Lady meeting its end with the blade of Ned Stark. The next was Grey Wind getting killed with his master Robb at so-called Red wedding while Summer and Shaggydog were slaughtered while protecting their respective owners.
The only remaining ones was Ghost, the albino companion of Jon Snow which is currently with him in Winterfell and other one is Nymeria who's currently wandering the Riverlands. Nymeria was released into the wilds by Arya when the wolf attacked Joffrey Baratheon when the latter attempted to strike Arya with his sword. Since then, Nymeria was never to be seen in the series as reported by Uproxx.
According to Watchers on the Wall, Arya who is played by Masie Williams might be reuniting with her long lost friend Nymeria. Williams was seen filming on Calgary, Canada the same day as the Instinct Animals For Film was present at the same area. Instinct Animals is known as the provider of the trained wolves for the series and the company posted an Instagram picture showing Ghost and another unnamed wolf with a huge resemblance to Nymeria.
There is no official announcement from the show makers regarding the issue but there is a strong chance that Nymeria will be coming back. The book where the series was based also tells a chapter where Nymeria will return. In previous reports, it is also teased by the actor playing Davos Seaworth that in the next season; we will see characters coming together.
