‘Vikings’ Season 5 Latest News & Updates: Lothbrok Brothers Fights Bloody Civil War

"Vikings" Season 4 has recently ended and the season was filled with lots of surprises and plot twist which shocked fans. Fans are now clamouring for more episodes and hunting any information that can satiate their curious minds on what is set for them in the fifth season. With that being said, show-maker Michael Hirst provided some teasers that provided some insights on what to expect in the upcoming season.

According to Mobi Picker, Season 5 will kick off with the funeral of Ragnar's third son, Sigurd 'Snake in the Eye'. "Season 5 begins with the burial of Sigurd, and Ivar is weeping and saying he never meant to do it," said the English screenwriter Hirst. He also added that Sigurd's murder will put a division within the remaining brothers causing an internal conflict that can be compared to the Roman Civil War between the Octavian, Brutus and Cassius.

Hirst also mentioned that the brothers will battle for the throne left by their father and during the last season the Great Army has conquered a huge part of England which puts the stakes through the roof. This signifies that battles for power and territory will be expected in the upcoming season. However, the new season will not be all about the Lothbrok brothers because a new character named Heahmund was introduced in the last parts of Season 4 and he will reprise his role next season.

Heahmund is a Saxon bishop who will declare war against the Vikings and expel them from England as reported by The Siver Times. Though being a bishop, he is known to be a great warrior who used is well-educated mind to great use during battle against spiritual enemies. He is a very devoted believer of his religion; however he is not the perfect bishop.

A lot of stuff has been revealed for Season 5 and surely this is not all that is under Hirst's sleeve. "Vikings" Season 5 is set to comeback in the Fall of 2017 on History.
