In the Philadelphia 76ers' 117-109 win over the Miami Heat on Saturday night, the Sixers played without Joel Embiid who was out because of an injury, and without Jahlil Okafor who was sat down allegedly because of impending trade talks. Subsequently, the latest reports suggest that the Sixers are trading Okafor within this week.
The Sixers have reportedly been engaging in trade talks since the start of the month with the New Orleans Pelicans and the Chicago Bulls confirmed as the first two teams interested in acquiring Okafor, per Fansided. The former is also alleged to be the closest to obtaining the 21-year-old center.
Alex Kennedy tweeted on Saturday that there are two more teams who have shown their interest in Okafor namely the Portland Trail Blazers and the Denver Nuggets. He added that discussions are still ongoing.
What was different about Sunday's trade rumors is that the Sixers were openly discussing it instead of brushing it off as just a rumor. They even went as far as naming Okafor as the player involved in the rumored trade talks. Keith Smith has been actively reporting about the Okafor trade talks.
He disclosed that the Sixers are expected to trade Okafor on Sunday or so. His sources claim that the team cannot go back after the Sixers pulled Okafor out of the lineup. Smith added that it would be awkward for Okafor to be in the lineup for the Sixers' game against the Charlotte Hornets on Monday after the team deliberately sat him down on Saturday because of impending trade talks.
Do you think we will be seeing Okafor move to another team in the NBA this week? Which team do you think suits him? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
