"24: Legacy," Fox's reboot of the hit series "24," is a TV series that offers something new, considering all the cast are new. But it also has something old and familiar since the premise and format seemed similar to the original. It is set to debut on February 5, 2017, right after Super Bowl LI.
According to John Kubicek of BuddyTV, how people will enjoy this new series will depend on "how much they appreciated the original" 24, where it stared Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer. The people will be able to see a lot of Bauer's adventures in the new series.
Kubicek said that "24: Legacy's" storylines include a conspiracy that has plenty of potential moles in the government, a terrorist plot and a hero who often disobeys orders in order to do what's right. Though it involves somehow similar plots and actions, he did say there's a difference, and it's that all the cast of the new series is all new.
The new series will focus on Eric Carter, a former Army Ranger who led a team to kill a terrorist mastermind, according to Kubicek. Unfortunately, that action is haunting Carter back as the remaining members of the group is looking to get him.
Kubicek adds that Carter will team up with Rebecca Ingram, the former head of the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) and the one who ordered the assault on the terrorist mastermind, to stop the new threat.
Den of Geek reports that Corey Hawkins, who played Dr. Dre in "Straight Outta Compton" will be playing Carter in the new series, while Miranda Otto will be playing Ingram. Joining them in the new series is Ashley Thomas, who will play Eric's older brother Isaac, Anna Diop, who will play Eric's wife Nicole, and Jimmy Smits, who play Rebecca's husband, Sen. John Donovan.
"24: Legacy" is set to premiere right after Super Bowl LI, but will get a regular schedule of Monday 8 p.m., starting on February 6. Check out the trailer for the new TV series in the video below.
