The dreaded slasher-horror film, "Friday the 13th", will be back this year and with its 13th installment, filmmakers are planning on a flashback. We all know Jason as the zombie-like creature with an insatiable lust for murder, however, we know nothing of how all his killings began. In this regard, "The Crazies" director Breck Eisner is working on a story featuring the young Jason and how he became the monster we came to know.
According to Dread Central, the filmmakers are seeking a young Caucasian boy and 12 years of age with height not exceeding 5 feet. The casting team also emphasized that applicants must have a very power-driven and an expressive face. Obviously, an expressive face is critical in portraying Jason the character is mute and the actor is forced to paint the scene with nothing more than their facial expressions.
A part of the film will be the origin tale of the hockey masked psycho-killer which shows his early childhood. We will come to know how the young little boy with physical deformities and mental disability came to be the machete-wielding monster. We will also know his life before the mass murder living with his mother Pamela Voorhees and his father Elias Voorhees.
Recently, another casting call confirmed the appearance of Elias which is a subject for numerous discussions among fans of the franchise. Screenwriter Aaron Guzikowski will introduce Elias as a powerful-looking man in his late 30s working as a park ranger in the vicinity of Camp Crystal Lake as reported by Joblo. The origin story will explain Elias' disappearance and how he left Pamela and Jason to live by themselves.
Way back in the 1980s, young Jason is portrayed as an innocent and mentally impaired boy who drowned because of bullying. However, filmmakers are planning to change it and make the new young Jason wicked, dark and gloomy who has severe psychological problems. The "Friday the 13th" film will proceed to production on March 19 to May 4 and is slated for an October 13 release.
