Josh Groban has recorded a new song for Disney's live-action adaptation "Beauty and the Beast." The song will be entitled "Evermore" and Dan Stevens, who plays the Beast, will be the one to sing it in the movie.
According to Silas Lesnick of ComingSoon, Disney made the announcement and it coincides with the release of a new movie poster. The song is described as "a soaring ballad" and it is written by Alan Menken, who wrote hit songs for "The Little Mermaid" and "Alladin," and lyricist Tim Rice, who wrote songs for "The Lion King" and "Evita."
Lesnick also said that Groban was excited to have performed the song. "I am honored to sing this beautiful new song by two of my absolute favorites, Alan Menken and Tim Rice," he said. Groban adds that he has been a fan of "Beauty and the Beast" since his childhood, so performing for the new movie makes him happy.
Rose Moore of Screen Rant reported that Groban is not new to singing in soundtracks. He has already performed songs for movies and TV shows such as "The Polar Express," "Troy," "The Simpsons."
Moore adds that Groban is phenomenal choice to sing "Evermore," considering he has an immediately recognizable voice and worldwide fan base. He has also proven to be more than capable of performing classic ballads if you consider his album "Stages," which is a collection of Broadway musical songs.
Lesnick said that the song "Evermore" will be performed by Stevens in the movie. He sings the song after he releases Emma Watson, who plays Belle, to be with her father. The movie "Beauty and the Beast" is slated to come out in theaters on March 17, 2017. You can check out the official U.S. trailer for the movie in the video below.
