Fans who are waiting for the release of the "reimagined" science-fiction shooter game "Prey" will be happy to know that it's already targeted for a May launch. The publisher of the game also came out with a new gameplay trailer, which shows the game's story.
According to a report from GameRant, fans should expect plenty of action when they play the game after it comes out on May 5, 2017, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Players, using a variety of traditional weapons like shotgun and pistol, and futuristic weapons like laser rifles, would need to find a way to survive aboard the Talos I research facility.
The report adds that "Prey" is a "reimagining" of the 2006 first-person shooter with the same title. The new game is developed by Arkane Studios and will be published by Bethesda Softworks.
The report also said that the game has been in development for quite some time already, having started four years ago. Though it is a "reimagining," it doesn't have any ties to the 2006 version of "Prey."
The gameplay trailer features a voice-over from the main character, Morgan Yu, who was involved in experimenting aliens at the research facility. The video showed that the aliens are able to shapeshift into any object.
When an outbreak happened Morgan said in the video that the Earth would be doomed if even one of the aliens reaches it, which gives him the task of containing and eliminating them. The trailer also showed that the protagonist was affected by the experiments, giving him similar abilities as well.
GameRant's report said that the trailer showed that Arkane took the reimagining of "Prey into "a wholly new direction from the source material." Raphael Colantonio, the president of Arkane, describes the game as a "psychological thriller" that deals with "the theme of identity." Check out the latest trailer of the game in the video below.
