‘Hellboy 3’ Talks Pushed Through Because Of Fans, Moves One Step Closer For It’s Production

It looks like fans want a third movie, voting for director Guillermo del Toro to set up a meeting with the movie's lead actor Ron Perlman and the comic book artist who created "Hellboy" Mike Mignola. This pushed the possibility of the third movie happening one step closer.

The meeting was made possible when del Toro took to Twitter and asked fans to vote if they want him to have a sit down meeting with Perlman and Mignola. He said if 100 thousand fans voted he will arrange the meeting.

The fans have responded, though, and del Toro tweeted that he is arranging the meeting, but there will be no guarantee. He even added that Perlman is already attending the sit-down meeting.

Brian Gallagher of MovieWeb said that the meeting will be the first major move that the "Hellboy" franchise has done with regards to the possible third movie. He adds that this move made it "closer to happening now than it has been in years."

Gallagher said the first movie premiered in 2004, earning $99.3 million worldwide and $59.6 million domestically. The sequel movie premiered in 2008, making $160.3 million at the box office worldwide and $75.9 million domestically.

The meeting, though, doesn't guarantee that a third movie will be happening, considering that del Toro himself said in 2014 that he didn't think it would happen, according to Gallagher. Just this last October, Perlman also said the movie might not happen as he and del Toro are both busy and they don't discuss it anymore.

Another issue that Gallagher said the third movie would face is will the other stars of the "Hellboy" franchise return. Selma Blair, Doug Jones, Jeffery Tambor, and John Hurt starred in the movie, and it's not certain they will reprise their roles for the third installment.
