Ed Sheeran Sheds 50 Pounds After Hiatus, Gearing Up For Release of Third Album

One year after shying away from social media and touring, Grammy award-winning artist Ed Sheeran is back. He will be releasing his third album by March, and has even lost weight with the help of his significant other.

LA Times reports that despite the public not seeing Ed Sheeran, he was still busy behind the scenes. He is actually responsible for co-writing some songs that were certified hits last 2016.

Two songs that he wrote which he did not consider for his new album actually paved the way for a comeback for pop star Justin Bieber. The songs "Love Yourself", and "Cold Water", were penned by the songwriter but he opted to not include them in is new album "Divide."

"That was a song I had written for Divide. It just wouldn't have made it," Sheeran said of "Love Yourself". "And then Justin took it and did his thing on it, and released it as a single and made it what it is," as reported by The Sydney Morning Herald.

Now the release of Sheerans' new album also comes with the singer-songwriter sporting a more slim look, courtesy of his girlfriend Cherry Sandborn, who recently went back to live in the UK with him. He claims that being on hiatus for a year made him gain weight from all the beer and pizza he consumed.

The "Thinking Out Loud" singer broke his self-imposed break from social media last December 13 to tease fans about his upcoming album "÷". Days later, he released two teaser songs entitled "Shape of You", and "Castle on the Hill."

The new songs smashed Spotify's 1st day streaming records, with 6.8 million and 6.1 million streams in just one day. The songs beat out One Direction's "Drag Me Down", which previously held the record with 4.7 million streams, as reported by Daily Mail.

Based on the reaction of fans, it seems that Ed Sheeran's new album will turn out to be a smashing success. His album will be released on March 3 and is available for pre-order.
