CS: GO League Organized By PEA Suspended Due To Player Revolt

"Counter Strike: Global Offensive" (CS: GO) players expressed their dissatisfaction and distrust to themanagement. Majority of the players voted not to compete in the league organized by the Professional eSports Association (PEA). After this, PEA commissioner Jason Katz announced that the league will be suspended from operating immediately.

Majority of the players from the renowned teams Team Solomid (TSM), Cloud9, Team Liquid, Counter Logic Gaming (CLG), Immortals, NRG eSports and compLexity Gaming expressed their sentiments through an open letter penned by eSports player named Scott "SirScoots" Smith. Smith was the chosen representative of the players which question the league and Katz in their efforts to disenfranchise players and force them out of the ESL Pro League (EPL); which is currently the most rewarding international stage for competitive "CS: GO", against their will.

PEA was a group founded, owned and operated by the team owners of the same players who are revolting. Its major goal was to have both players and owners have an equal share of profits and provide players benefits and services such as retirement and investment planning, health insurance and more.

According to Polygon, PEA issued a response to the player's open letter mentioning better payouts for their tournaments compare to that of EPL. They also apologized to the players saying that they have been on the wrong. "We sympathize with the players' sentiments around not feeling more included in the decision-making process. We acknowledge that we could and should have done better," said PEA representative Noah Whinston, chief executive officer of Immortals and PEA player relations committee member.

Subsequently, the players held their voting process on whether to stay with PEA or join the EPL league. Majority of the players decided that they will be competing for the EPL which instantly lead to the suspension of the PEA operations.

According to Yahoo, PEA is only issuing a suspension and it is still possible that they will be launching another "CS: GO" league. Whinston also expressed that they are not closing the opportunity in investing other games. He said that instead of losing money in organizing "CS: GO" leagues, they will devote their resources into other game titles.
