During last year's BlizzCon, Blizzard announced that they are celebrating the 20th anniversary of "Diablo" series with a peculiar twist. They are aiming to pay homage to the original game which started all this amazing things by recreating the game within "Diablo III". Players are thrilled and the hype are on top because they will have the chance to relive again the memories of the old game.
The ambitious project resulted into the temporary event codenamed "Darkening of Tristram". Every player can participate the event by heading over the Old Ruins in Adventure Mode and jumping through the portal located there. Once you enter the dungeon, you will find a nostalgic pixelated dungeon with lower frame rates that comes with clever old-school visual filters.
It is complete with a 16-tier stages infested with monsters with bosses from the original game together with its iconic combat animations, attack patterns and old-fashioned sound effects as reported by PC Gamer. Though the minor monsters are all from "Diablo III" which to the players discontent, the new update followed up with clever surprises if players properly explored every corners of the labyrinths. The players get to experience some small side-dungeons like the Hall of Bones and Halls of the Blind.
In a report by Kotaku, "Darkening of Tristram" has also a secret puzzle that offers a cute baby cow pet as a reward. To acquire the bovine pet, first players have to fight up to level nine of the old dungeon but before that, notice that there are some odd things on the road in the entrance of the dungeon. There are some named corpses and further down the road are some dead cows. DO NOT TOUCH THE COWS!
Going back to the guide, go up to the level nine dungeon and find a cluster of black mushrooms to acquire the Rotten Mushroom. Use the Rotten Mushroom in the cauldron back in Old Tristram to get the Witch's Brew. Use the brew on the dead guy named Farnham then use the items dropped by each corpses to awaken the next.
Go next and revive Ogden, Pepin and the dead blacksmith to have the plan for Wirt's Leg. Teleport to town and have the blacksmith craft Wirt's Leg with a whopping 1 million buck fee. Ask the blacksmith again but now to salvage the leg to acquire the Map to the Stars with notes that says 2, 1 and 3.
Head back to the cows and interact with them in the proper order as the Map to the Stars told. Two means the middle, one is on the left and 3 is the cow on the right. If successfully followed the instructions, the player will get access to a farm area which contains a chest which in turn contains the cute and cuddly baby cow pet.
