"Overwatch" fans who have been complaining about Roadhog's hook being too powerful will be happy to know that Blizzard plans to weaken this ability. Other fans, though, are worried that the developer might have gone too far and made the character too weak.
Geoff Goodman, the principal designer of the game, revealed in a forum the changes they plan to make with Roadhog's Hook ability. He said the changes are coming soon, but they might make it available in the Public Test Region this week.
Goodman revealed three changes to Roadhog's Hook ability, with the first being victims of the hook "will now move into the position directly in front of Roadhog, rather than just a straight line towards him." He said that this update should make the hook be more consistent to "where the victims get pulled."
The second update is with regards to the hook's line-of-sight being adjusted to Roadhog's position. This means that Roadhog should now see his targets in order for him to hook them. The last update involves a "persistent line-of-sight check back" to the character once the hook has landed on a victim.
This update basically makes Roadhog's hook breakable if the check fails. If a victim moves out of the line-of-sight quickly, the hook will break early, allowing the victim to escape.
Though, this update will make "Overwatch" fans happy, some of them are not. Polygon reports there are fans who fear Blizzard's last update with Roadhog's Hook ability has moved thing too far in the other direction.
"Not really sure I like the idea of making the hook break once it's connected," a player said on the forum. Another player said the nerf comes from the third update, where a victim can break the hook using a mobility skill. The player also wishes that there wasn't a big delay between the hooking and pulling of victims.
Goodman, though, said they'll still evaluate the updates once players get to play the character and make adjustments. Check out the overview of Roadhog's ability in the video below. In other news, Overwatch fans will get to celebrate "Diablo's" 20th anniversary with in-game goodies in the coming days.
