When it comes to traveling, each person who packs his or her bags for a trip is influenced by his or her own reasons, preferences and habits. However, there is a systematic way of categorizing an individual traveler into a specific variety.
Have you ever wondered what type of traveler you are? If you do, feel free to assess yourself among these four generic profiles. These personas may help you identify which type of crowd you'll be joining on a group vacation.
Adventurer
An adventurer is a type of traveler that looks for places that offer the 'wildest rides.' One may associate them with alpine skiers, skydivers, surfers, and other types of enthusiasts who are courting with fast and hard danger. Likewise called 'adrenaline junkies,' the definition of boring for these types of travelers is winding up in a place that is too sedentary. Nobody tells these travelers to relax (ever)!
Eccentric
The eccentric ones are the most existentially driven. They do not mind courting potential dangers but they are more about 'finding deeper purpose' in every place and experience. Likewise known as 'soul searchers,' these travelers venture every offbeat track. Whether it is sharing sleeping quarters with Mongolian nomads in a traditional 'ger', learning the bi-vocal chant from Tibetan monks, or having one's skin inked by a 90-year old Indonesian shaman, the eccentric traveler lives up to his or her own reputation.
Party Animal
The part animal shares some edgy traits with an adventurer and the eccentric. However, their sole purpose for traveling is the beat of the loud festive music and (believe it or not) getting a hangover as the best souvenir. They are pretty much knowledgeable in the simple use of the calendar, check-listing the next biggest Mardi Gras parade in Brazil or the next Oktoberfest beer concerts in Germany.
Micromanager
Of all the types of traveler persona, the micromanager tends to be the most restrictive when it comes to fun. They plan a month or weeks ahead of the scheduled trip and they rarely deviate from their strict itinerary. On the bright side, micromanagers are good at budgeting everything. One can always rely on them to explore bottom-dollar bargain shopping spree in souks and local wet markets.
