Coca Cola has announced that their ginger-flavored coke will make a debut in Japan this January 2017. This is the latest innovation from the American multinational company.
After its successful release in Australia, the Japanese will be the next to get a taste of Coke's new flavor, with the Coca Cola marketing team gearing up for the official product launch.
Other Coke flavors have already made an appearance in the past, but this is the first time Coke will make use of Ginger. Said to be a warming ingredient, Ginger-flavored coke will only be for sale for a limited time during the winter season, to help people combat the cold.
In Australia, the general public has enjoyed Coke's new flavor. According to Mashable, "The ginger taste is very, very subtle. So much so that it took us a few tastes to realize it was even in there."
"Eventually you'll notice that little touch of spice, but for ginger fiends, it will leave you wanting more of a kick. It's still as sugary and has the same Coke taste as the original, of course."
The company spent less than six months developing and perfecting the recipe for Coke's new flavor. Its packaging comes in distinct gold labels. According to the company, this is to highlight the exclusivity of their new product.
Ginger is famous for being a staple ingredient in Asian cuisine, that's why the company is positive the Japanese will welcome their new product warmly. However, it's not yet known whether other Asian countries will release Ginger-flavored coke as well.
This refreshing drink is said to be best paired with Asian dishes, seafood, and salads. On their Youtube channel, Coca-cola also shared a Ginger Coca-Cola Chicken Wings Recipe.
The Japanese launch of Ginger Coca-Cola would be on January 23, 2017. Suggested retail price for every 500 ml bottle is 140 yen.
