Current WWE Superstar and former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has been suspended by Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) for one year following multiple failed drug tests stemming from his fight against Mark Hunt during the UFC 200 event last July. In addition to having his fighting license suspended, Lesnar will also be fined $250,000. The NSAC has also decided to overturn his win against Mark Hunt and have ruled the fight a no-contest.
Lesnar, 39, made his return to the UFC this past summer, after being away for more than 5 years, to face Mark Hunt at UFC 200. Lesnar originally won the bout via unanimous decision, but he was soon embroiled in controversy after U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) hit the former UFC champion with two anti-doping violations. The USADA is the organization that heads the drug testing program of the UFC.
Lesnar declared his innocence with a brief statement, but has mostly stayed quiet on the issue while his legal team tried to find the source of his failed drug tests. Lesnar tested positive for clomiphene and hydroxyl-clomiphene, which is a pair of anti-estrogen drugs. The first drug test was conducted prior to the fight on June 28, 2016, while the second drug sample was taken on the night of the fight itself, according to a report from Fox Sports.
The 290-pound behemoth retired from the UFC in 2011 and returned to the WWE in 2012 on a part-time basis. Lesnar has wrestled a total of 11 matches for the WWE this year with his most recent one being a Wrestlemania 20 rematch against Bill Goldberg at the Survivor Series pay-per-view event.
According to a report from The Wrap, Lesnar will not be subjected to the WWE's wellness policy because he is a part-time performer for the company. His suspension will be lifted on July 9, 2017, but it is currently unknown if Brock Lesnar has plans of fighting in the octagon again.
