American TV host and personality Steve Harvey is once again hosting the highly publicized beauty pageant, Miss Universe, which is happening in the Philippines next month. Some have questioned the selection, but despite ludicrous blunders committed last year by the said comedian, the organization has still given their trust to Steve Harvey to host the event.
It will be noted that a big 4-minute mishap has happened last year when Steve Harvey announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the wrong winner. It went viral and dominated social media networks. Recently, in Jimmy Fallon's show, Steve Harvey disclosed what has actually happened and how he rectified his mistake on stage. This time he will be co-hosting the pageant with a Filipina personality who has not been named yet. Model Ashley Graham will be joining as well as the backstage host.
The Miss Universe Organization is an entity operated by women and established to serve as a platform for women to empower others, break stereotypes and contribute to the larger communities.
The candidates will be staying one-month long in the Philippines, the home country of Pia Wurtzbach, last year's Miss Universe. The swimwear competition will take place in the beautiful island of Cebu. Part of the itinerary is a visit to the northern part to the summer capital of the country, Baguio City, Benguet.
This will be the third time that Philippines is country hosting the international tilt. The pageant was held in Manila for the first time in 1974, when Miss Universe 1973 Margarita Moran crowned Amparo Muñoz of Spain. The second time was held in 1994, when Miss Universe India's Sushmita Sen was crowned by Dayanara Torres.
The Miss Universe beauty pageant coronation will be held on January 30, 2017 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
