Jeremy Lin Returns To Nets, Gives Strength To Team Despite Losing To Rockets

After a suffering from a strained left hamstring, Jeremy Lin finally returns as the Brooklyn Nets play against his former team, the Houston Rockets.

Lin was merely on the sidelines for six weeks while healing from his injury which he acquired on Nov. 2 while playing against the Detroit. With his return, the Nets once again got back his leadership and creativity while calmly playing.

But despite his return, they did not manage to win against the Rockets with a score of 122-118. Lin got 10 points on 4 of 8 shooting and he had seven assist, manifesting that there wasn't any rust at all despite his long hiatus.

Coach Kenny Atkinson was also happy to have Lin back. He said that his return was a great help to the Nets since it organizes them.

“He had seven assists in 20 minutes. That’s big. He knows where to get Brook the ball and when to get it. I think we did a better job of driving the ball to the rim. We had a ton of points in the paint (a 68-36 advantage over the Rockets). There’s some real positives to take out of it offensively,” said Atkinson, according to NewsDay.

Atkinso also said that although they are not happy with the loss, he is glad that the Nets had that competitive spirit. It appears that things will be a lot better now that Lin is back.

While Lin was still injured, the Nets lost 13 out of 17 games. According to Lin, he will just do his best now that he is able to play again. He even said that his long absence made him appreciate the game and his team even more.

“We just want to play with a lot of heart, and harder than the other team,” said Lin, according to New York Post. “That’s really — when I think about us — what we need to do. I like to [be able to] sit in the locker room and say, ‘We played harder than the other team.’ We did a good job of matching their energy or surpassing it. Disappointed in the outcome, for sure, but I’m proud of the guys that battled.”
