In a MH370 news update, a number of the passengers' family members expressed their intent to visit Madagascar on Dec. 3 to Dec. 11. This is in the hopes of finding debris from the missing plane that mysteriously vanished in March 2014.
Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 was flying with 239 people on board and was traveling to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur on March 8, 2014, and suddenly disappeared from the radar. However, twelve days after the Malaysia airlines crash, investigators identified six pieces of wreckage which are most likely from the missing plane, as reported by Associated Press.
In a report by Australia Channel, aircraft experts do not believe that the missing flight was preparing for a landing. In one of the MH370 Theories, Australian Transport Safety Bureau concluded that the outboard wing flap debris is most likely not in an extended position and theorized the plane was likely to be out of control when it went down in the Indian Ocean.
This means that the pilot did not intend to land or ditch. Search Director Peter Foley told reporters, "(It) means the aircraft wasn't configured for a landing or a ditching - you can draw your own conclusions as to whether that means someone was in control," However, he further added that "You can never be 100 percent, we are very reluctant to express absolute certainty."
With these findings, the Associate Press also mentioned that the families of the missing Malaysian flight passengers will go on a search in Africa for debris that may lead to clues that may reveal what happened during that fateful day.
"Despite these hugely important finds, there has been no systematic, organized search by any responsible party," in a statement by Voice 370, the MH370 family association. "This leaves the (next-of-kin) no other choice except to take it upon ourselves to do something to find answers and closure," they further added.
Last July, Malaysia, China and Australia agreed that the search would be suspended after January in the absence of credible new evidence pointing to the plane's location. This is also why some families are hoping to discover new clues that would extend the said search.
